Emmaus Celebration/Training Day

A big thanks goes out to all who participated in the celebration/training day on Sept. 16th. We had a great day of praising God, prayer, fellowship, attending workshops, and yes, we ate well like usual at an Emmaus function. The Lockington United Methodist Church provided a wonderful setting for us.  We want to say thank you to them for letting us use their beautiful facility. The morning started out with some uneasiness, as fog completely blanketed the area, making it very difficult for some to find their way; but God lead all safely there.   He’s good at that!

I could write several paragraphs concerning all those who deserve a pat on the back, instead lets give all the Glory to God, in who’s name we gathered   All praise and honor to Him. It’s our hope that we continue to hold these sessions on a regular basis as we all strive to walk down His path and allow Him to guide us on our journey we call our 4th days.

God bless,

Bill Rickey

Women’s Walk # 40 Pilgrims List

Autumn Blessings,

Once again it is the time of year when we begin to notice the changing of the seasons.  Each day is a work of art as God paints the canvas with the many colors of fall.  It is also a time to reflect and count our blessings of the harvest.

You can also reap God’s blessings by giving unconditional love in the form of agape for the upcoming walks.  Sidney Emmaus Community has two more walks this year.  Women’s walk #40 will be held Oct. 5-8.  Men’s walk #36 will be held Nov. 2-5.  If you would like to bless the pilgrims with agape, a full walk consists of 36 pilgrims.  If you would like to bless the team and pilgrims, please supply 66 pieces of agape. Write the number of pieces and whether agape is for bedtime or mealtime.   Since agape is a gift of unconditional love, please do not include individual names on the agape.

We all know there are many forms of agape revealed and experienced over the 72 hours.  Thank you for helping us plant the seed.

In His great love,
Doug and Peggy Ware

                                                              Closing Info

Thanks to everyone for your continued support and prayers at our closings. Our closing services have been well attended and we know our new brothers and sisters in Christ appreciate and welcome their sponsors and other community members as the weekend comes to an end. Just a reminder, please don’t come Sunday till after 4, the church is very busy and there is also a chance of meeting a pilgrim on the stairs. There is plenty of time to pick up luggage later! Thanks and God bless.

Greetings in the Name that is Above All Names!

I can’t believe how fast time flies when you’re having so much fun! Here it is September 2006 already! I wanted to write to let you all know how much of a privilege it has been to serve this AWESOME community as Music chair on the board this past 2 years! I have to say that it has been a Great experience for me, and I hope that you all have been blessed by such great talent and gifts of music as I have!

As an update to what has been taking place, we have secured our very own CCLI license! That means that we are completely legal in making sure that the songs that we sing (and are copyrighted) are covered! What I have done (and we must keep doing) is that we keep track of songs that we sing at gatherings, team meetings, walks and any other Emmaus event, and every so often we are required to report that usage so that the authors and artists get paid their royalties. It is the Music Director’s responsibility on every walk to keep track of what songs are used and report them to the Music board rep at the end of that walk. I want to “Thank” those that have already cooperated with this and would encourage you all to help keep this up! Also with this new procedure, we can no longer allow any songbooks or lead sheets, lyrics, etc. to be taken home from the walks. You all have been doing such a good job of cooperating with this so far, and I sure appreciate that!

Next, I am in the process of updating the songbooks for the community as well. I am going to have new songbooks printed for the conference room as well as a Master Music Director’s book complete with words, chords, etc. If you have any song suggestions that you would like to see added, please let me know ASAP!

Lastly, October is the ALL MUSIC gathering (Oct.10th). If you wish to participate in that, please send me an email (mburd@bright.net) or give me a call at (937) 394-7195 to discuss it.

Thanks again for the opportunity to serve the best Emmaus community ever!

DeColores!
