FRIGHTFULLY FANTASTIC

Keeping with the season, BOO!
Please don’t be scared.  God will take care of you, plus, I’m the last person you should be afraid of, sometimes I need to keep reminding myself of that, in my own daily life.

Over the past month or so, we have experienced some tragedy in our country due to the hurricanes that have devastated the gulf coast states.  It’s hard to imagine the hopeless feeling all those in the path of a storm would have, when they are asked to leave all they own, to the destructive forces of mother nature.  We’ve all seen the huge amount of loss that many have experienced.  Many of us have already contributed in some way to assist these folks.  I’m not writing this to ask you to give more, but if God leads, give what you’re able to.

I’m hoping to be part of a construction crew in the summer, that plans on going to help rebuild in Texas.  Some of you know that I just didn’t pick Texas for the scenery.  My daughter, Kami, and her husband, Jason, along with my 5-month old granddaughter live in Beaumont, Texas.  Jason works at the refinery in Port Arthur.  Those were the two places that met the eye of hurricane Rita, as it made landfall.  During their experience of the mandatory evacuation, I found myself worrying about their safety as they traveled only 60 miles in 12-1/2 hours.  Knowing full well, no matter how many times I hit the ‘redial’ button, I wasn’t going to be able to help them, basically, I drove myself crazy until I prayed for God to place a hedge of protection around them.

Isn’t that a behavior a lot of us have in everyday life?  When we meet with difficult times, do we try to take them on alone?  I do, too often!  Those hours didn’t pass any faster, but after I had my own “dying moments”, there in my living room, I was at peace.

The end of the story is that they were ok, and their home was basically untouched.  Lucky, maybe: fortunate, yes; grace covered, most definitely!   My hope for them and all who were displaced by the storms is a speedy solution to their needs.  For us here in the Sidney Community, recognition of the need to “Let go, and let God” control all those situations in our lives that make our landfall.

Ironically, through all of this is, my daughter's favorite hymn is “God Will Take Care of You.”  I should have known better.

God Bless all of you, and your families!

Jerry Noble, Community Chair

THANK YOU!

I would like thank God, and the Emmaus Community for the willing servant hood that was given during my time as Kitchen Coordinator.  I have been so blessed by the friendships, and I have come to love so many Christian people.  God bless you all and please continue to come, as there is definitely a need for people willing to do HIS work, and so many people who have not yet been introduced to this wonderful give from God, Emmaus!

Love from your sister in Christ,

Iva Lenhart

Greetings friend in Christ

One responsibility of the Agape chairperson is to send letters of Agape from the Greater Sidney Area Emmaus to our brothers and sisters in Christ in Emmaus, Chrysalis, and Karios communities cross the US, and overseas.  We need your support in sending these letters.  As a gift of Agape, the letters are signed by the community members.  It would be a blessing to receive an Agape letter covered with signatures.  We would like as many signatures on these letters as we can possibly squeeze on one page.

Please take a few moments to sign your name on the Agape letters to let others know we care and are praying for them.  The letters will be in the gathering place and the fellowship hall at the November and December gatherings.  The letters are mailed the end of this year for their 2006 upcoming walks.  Your gift of Agape is greatly appreciated.

The Agape room is buzzing with activity the weekend of a walk.  Prayerfully consider providing Agape for the upcoming men’s walk, November 3-6.  The men’s walks tend to be a little weak on Agape for both the table and pilgrim bedtime.  For a full Men’s Walk ,36 pieces of Agape is needed for bedtime, and 66 pieces of mealtime.

Just a reminder: NO super Agape for pilgrims.  The pilgrims only receive personal Agape in their Sunday packets.  All letters and small books must fit in their envelopes.  Please write the first and last name on all Agape for both the team and pilgrims.  When we only have a single name, we can only pray that the correct person is receiving your Agape

Putting all of the small challenges aside, it is a blessing to serve in the Agape room!

In His  great love,

Doug and Peggy Ware
