Greater Sidney Area Emmaus Newsletter November 2004
Over the past 11 months, I have had the privilege to serve the GSAE as
Community Chairman. I want to stress that it has truly been a privilege.
Watching the community grow is where I received the most pleasure. Not so much
just in numbers, but growing closer to God. In turn, God has richly blessed our
community. I expect this to continue even after my term as Chairman is over, due
to the fact that we have a high caliber of people returning and coming on the
board to see that it does in 2005 and beyond. One important factor in all of
this is, those who have served you faithfully over the past 2-3 years. I know
there aren't any of them that want the recognition, but I feel it's important to
thank them for a job well done.
The following will be going off the board at the end of the year. We will miss
their service. Their names are listed with the area of service:
Patty Yinger Treasurer
Curt Hostetler Men's Registrar
Harry Congdon Men's Good Shepherd
Pat Gregg Agape
Vera Piper Worship
Eric Truxal Music
Amy Zorn Supplies
Candy Sharp Literature
Mindy Settlage Newsletter
Theresa Truxal Outreach
Sharon Halter Leadership
What I would encourage you to do is, if you see these folks in the near future,
stop and tell them how much you appreciate them.
In His Service,
Jerry Noble

THEY MISSED HIM!
They were looking for A Lion, He came as a Lamb, and they missed him.
They were looking for a Warrior, He came as a Peace maker, and they missed him.
They were looking for a King, He came as a Servant, and they missed him.
They were looking for Liberation from Rome, He submitted to the Roman cross, and
they missed him.
They were looking for a fit to their mold, He was the mold maker, and they
missed him.
What are you looking for? Lion? Warrior? King? Liberator? What are you looking
for?
They were looking for their temporal needs to be met. He came to meet their
eternal needs, and they missed him.
He came as a Lamb to be sacrificed for your sin. Will you miss him?
He came to make peace between God and man. Will you miss him?
He came to model servanthood for all mankind. Will you miss him?
He came that we might have true Liberty. Will you miss him?
He came to give you eternal life. Will you miss him?
When we submit to the Lamb we will meet the Lion. Join with the Peacemaker and
we will meet the Warrior. Work with the Servant and we will meet the King. Walk
with the Submitted and we will meet the Liberator. Concern ourselves with the
eternal and we will have the temporal.
If Jesus is not fitting into the mold you have, then come to the mold maker and
get His new one. Submit to His plan for your life and you will see the eternal
need met first, then all the other things you have need of will be taken care of
as well.

You Are Worth Something to Someone........
A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20.00 bill. In the
room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?"
Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but
first, let me do this.
He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill.
He then asked, "Who still wants it?"
Still the hands were up in the air.
Well, he replied, "What if I do this?"
And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his
shoe.
He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty.
"Now, who still wants it?"
Still the hands went into the air.
My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson.
No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not
decrease in value.
It was still worth $20.
Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt
by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.
We feel as though we are worthless.
But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your
value.
Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who
DO LOVE you.
The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE
ARE. You are special- Don't EVER forget it."
Count your blessings, not your problems.
And remember: amateurs built the ark,
professionals built the Titanic.
If God brings you to it - He will bring you through it.

My Attorney
After living what I felt was a "decent" life, my time on earth came to the end.
The first thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting room of what I
thought to be a court house. The doors opened and I was instructed to come in
and have a seat by the defense table.
As I looked around I saw the "prosecutor." He was a villainous looking gent who
snarled as he stared at me. He definitely was the most evil person I have ever
seen.
I sat down and looked to my left and there sat My Attorney, a kind and gentle
looking man whose appearance seemed so familiar to me, I felt I knew Him.
The corner door flew open and there appeared the Judge in full flowing robes. He
commanded an awesome presence as He moved across the room. I couldn't take my
eyes off of Him. As He took His seat behind the bench, He said, "Let us begin."
The prosecutor rose and said, "My name is Satan and I am here to show you why
this man belongs in hell." He proceeded to tell of lies that I told, things that
I stole, and in the past when I cheated others. Satan told of other horrible
perversions that were once in my life and the more he spoke, the further down in
my seat I sank. I was so embarrassed that I couldn't look at anyone, even my own
Attorney, as the Devil told of sins that even I had completely forgotten about.
As upset as I was at Satan for telling all these things about me, I was equally
upset at My Attorney who sat there silently not offering any form of defense at
all. I know I had been guilty of those things, but I had done some good in my
life - couldn't that at least equal out part of the harm I'd done?
Satan finished with a fury and said, "This man belongs in hell, he is guilty of
all that I have charged and there is not a person who can prove otherwise."
When it was His turn, My Attorney first asked if He might approach the bench.
The Judge allowed this over the strong objection of Satan, and beckoned Him to
come forward. As He got up and started walking, I was able to see Him in His
full splendor and majesty. I realized why He seemed so familiar; this was Jesus
representing me, my Lord and my Savior.
He stopped at the bench and softly said to the Judge, "Hi, Dad," and then He
turned to address the court. "Satan was correct in saying that this man had s
inned, I won't deny any of these allegations. And, yes, the wage of sin is
death, and this man deserves to be punished."
Jesus took a deep breath and turned to His Father with outstretched arms
and proclaimed, "However, I died on the cross so that this person might have
eternal life and he has accepted Me as his Savior, so he is Mine."
My Lord continued with, "His name is written in the book of life and no one can
snatch him from Me. Satan still does not understand yet. This
man is not to be given justice, but rather mercy."
As Jesus sat down, He quietly paused, looked at His Father and said," There is
nothing else that needs to be done. I've done it all."
The Judge lifted His mighty hand and slammed the gavel down. The following words
bellowed from His lips... "This man is free. The penalty for him has already
been paid in full. Case dismissed."
As my Lord led me away, I could hear Satan ranting and raving, "I won't give up,
I will win the next one."
I asked Jesus as He gave me my instructions where to go next, "Have you ever
lost a case?"
Christ lovingly smiled and said, "Everyone that has come to Me and asked Me to
represent them has received the same verdict as you, "PAID IN
FULL."
CANDLELIGHT OFFERING
Over the past year the community has had some extra expenses that have depleted
the funds in our account. The board has given this some serious thought and are
presently working on ideas of how to cut back. First thing, we don't want to see
is an increase in our walk fees, pilgrim or team. Our fees are still the lowest
in the area. What we have already implemented and hope will not be a burden or
detriment to the flow of the evening is to take an offering at candlelight. This
has been tried in other communities and has been successful. We don't want any
of you to be worried, we will get through this period and our community will
continue to be strong.
